About

Hi! I'm Lora and I'm a 33-year-old wife & mom. I have a degree in Graphic Communications and have had my share of "rat race" type jobs, where I was working 40+ hours a week outside of the home. After our first son was born, I accepted a position with a recruiting company where I was able to work part-time from home and part-time in the office. I know you're asking, "How did you find a job like that?" Well, this was simply a blessing/miracle that a friend told me about. In doing so, I applied, gave the interview my best and was offered the job.I worked at that company as an internet research. I really didn't know what I was doing, but kind of figured my way through it and in doing so became quite good at finding anything and everything on the internet. I had no background in this, they just liked my personality and had confidence that I could figure it out. Unfortunately the recruiting industry tanked and the company closed down.

I was without a job for some time and while searching for work I primarily was searching for online/telecommute work and again, found myself very blessed to come across a 100% telecommute, completely legit job doing data entry & database management. The job was contract, (pay per job I entered) the money wasn't great, usually averaged to about $7-$9 per hour and I worked part time. It was a HUGE blessing. I know, I don't have to tell you that sitting on the couch, in my pajamas, working and making money while my son was napping or at preschool was a BLESSING, it's obvious!

At the end of December 2011, the company requested that all of their part-time employees begin working 30-35 hours per week. Unfortunately I couldn't add another 15 hours of work into my week (I had a 4 year old in 1/2 day kindergarten and a 6 month old that still wasn't on a decent night/day time schedule.) So we mutually agreed to not renew my contract.

In all fairness I've really enjoyed NOT working at all, but do wonder sometimes if I'm letting my skills slip away. I have had many friends, family and acquaintances state that they do not understand how to look to find these online jobs and so I'm taking this opportunity to share with you all. If you're here and reading this, I assume you're in the same boat I'm in, that making a little money (or maybe a lot of money) from home would be ideal because you want to be home with your kids, or you don't want a long commute, or you're in a rural area that doesn't offer many job opportunities. I don't care what your reason, but you're here and hopefully my posts will be beneficial to you.

I'll spend 2 minutes on what you should do first: make a NICE resume. Be HONEST. If you don't have the computer / grammar skills to write a nice resume, then find somebody to help you (or I will help you) because that 1 file is what somebody will likely read. The other thing, is ALWAYS write a cover letter for any job you apply for. Explain why you're the best person for the job and what you bring to the table that others may not.

I intend to only post jobs that seem legit. If you ever come across a job on this site that is not legit, requests money from you, or is inappropriate in any way, please add a comment or email me. I do not want to send people to losers that are trying to take your money.

Thanks for visiting and all the best to you in your search for "stay at home" work!

Lora
